There is so much pressure on parents to save their kids from weight issues that it has spurred enormous fear (in parents and kids). We have lost sight of the value of a healthy relationship with food and body but we have tremendous power to protect and help our children.

You will walk away from this event with the confidence in your own ability to:

1. Protect your children from the negative influence of diet culture

2. Build trust in yourself and your children around food

3. Create an environment that fosters body respect

About Our Speaker:

As a home health physical therapist for over 20 years, I subscribed to the weight-centric approach to health and believed that achieving and maintaining a “healthy” weight was the best thing we could do to ensure a long life. However, as a chronic dieter, I was no more successful at losing weight than my patients or clients were.

I became a certified transformational health and life coach through Health Coach Institute initially to learn more about nutrition and techniques for creating habit and behavior change that I thought would lead to sustainable weight loss for myself and my clients. During that training, I became increasing obsessed with all things healthy. I felt even more stuck, frustrated and defeated on the weight-loss journey than ever before. My self-talk and body image were very critical and I was consumed with thoughts (worry, really) about food and my health. I knew I was on the same rollercoaster as my clients and that it wasn’t working. I made a decision to change and heal my own disordered relationship with food.

I started down a new track of learning to figure out why this cycle of deprivation and guilt happens, what happens in the mind and the body when we diet, and exactly how to get off the rollercoaster. I put in the work to to not only heal my own relationship with food/body but to learn a better way to approach health. I knew I had to share this with others and became a certified Intuitive Eating Counselor under the guidance and supervision of Evelyn Tribole and Elyse Resch. Now, the number on the scale doesn’t define me. I have found freedom from the constant worry about food, and released the internal judgement and self-criticism that plagued me.

And I’m passionate about helping you achieve this same freedom by empowering you as the expert of your own body and the highest authority of what brings you life! As a transformational health coach and certified intuitive eating counselor, I help people get off the diet rollercoaster for good and restore a healthy relationship with food, body and spirit!
